Vapor Barrier Install
The vapor barrier in your crawl space serves the important function of stopping moisture from absorbing into the subfloor and other structural members of your home. Having an improperly installed vapor barrier or one that is not up to code in the rainy Portland, Oregon area can lead to many problems down the road.
A vapor barrier may need to be replaced for several reasons. Many times it is contamination of the vapor barrier by rodents, cats or nuisance wildlife leaving behind urine and feces that causes the need for replacement. Since up to 40% of the air that you breathe in your home can come from the crawl space, it becomes important to remove the contaminated waste that accumulates on the vapor barrier. Many times the vapor barrier is not up to code (6 mil black plastic), missing in areas or not present at all in the crawl space.
Installing a vapor barrier can be a difficult and dirty job. However, in our experience, it is a little overpriced within the industry, so if you are needing an estimate, we will gladly beat any competing bid.
